Richard Belford

Bio

I am a Supervisory Contract Specialist for the Defense Contract Management Agency based in East Hartford, CT. I lead a team of 14 direct reports in the administration of over 1800 DOD contracts awarded to northern CT, western MA, and upstate NY companies. After 40 years of service with the US Army and the US Air Force (active, reserve, and Guard), I retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant in 2019. I continue to serve as a member of the Massachusetts Organized Militia, subject to recall to support citizens during emergencies and disasters.

A former professional with both the BSA and GSUSA, I am currently a member of the Executive Board for the Western Massachusetts Council BSA, and also serve them as New Unit Chair and as a District Nominating Chair.  I was selected in 2020 as the first National Exploring Subject Matter Expert for the BSA's National Commissioner's Service Team (Exploring Group) and Learning for Life. My other community service includes serving as Clerk of the Corporation and member of the Board of Directors for Community Cable Radio, Vice President and member of the Board of Directors for the One Last Gift Foundation (for terminally ill children), an Instructor for the Enfield, CT and Westfield, MA Community Emergency Response Teams, a volunteer hearing officer for the Town of Enfield, a pro-bono resume writer, an Aerospace Education member of the Civil Air Patrol, a SKYWARN/NWS weather spotter, and am currently a Justice of the Peace in Connecticut.
